DWP Cost of Living 2025: Payments Available for UK Households – Check If You Qualify Before July

DWP COST OF LIVING 2025 PAYMENT

Thousands of families across the UK could be eligible to receive up to £300 in cost of living assistance this June and July. These payments are designed to help ease the strain caused by rising prices for food and energy.

This support is provided through the Household Support Fund, which the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has extended until March 2026.

You don’t have to be receiving benefits to qualify. Since local councils manage the distribution of funds, eligibility criteria and payment amounts can differ depending on where you live.

Who Can Get It?

In Doncaster, families with three or more children may be entitled to £300, while those with one or two children could receive between £100 and £200 if they claim Child Benefit.

Doncaster is also offering £100 energy support payments for households claiming Universal Credit (including the housing element), Council Tax reduction, Housing Benefit, or means-tested free school meals.

Calderdale Council is providing support up to £85, prioritizing households with children or people with disabilities.

Manchester City Council is distributing £130 payments to households that receive Council Tax Support alongside a disability benefit such as PIP or DLA.

DWP Cost of Living 2025 Dates

  • Food support payments are expected to be made around 15 July 2025
  • Energy support payments are expected around 15 December 2025

If you have received Household Support Fund payments before and your circumstances have remained the same, you might receive these payments automatically. Just be sure your bank details are current.

No Benefits? You Might Still Qualify

The UK government states that this support is available to anyone struggling to cover basic living costs—not only those on benefits. Your local council may also offer additional help through partnerships with local charities or may limit applications to one per household each year.
