Millions of Americans Are Set to Receive Their Social Security Checks in June—But Not Everyone Is Getting Paid
This June, many Americans are looking forward to their regular Social Security benefits, but not all recipients will see a payment this month. It’s especially important for those who depend on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or standard retirement benefits to understand the changes in the payment schedule.
Why June Is Different for SSI Recipients
Typically, SSI payments are issued on the first day of each month. However, June 1, 2025, falls on a Sunday, so payments were advanced to Friday, May 30. Because of this early disbursement, SSI beneficiaries will not receive a payment in June. Their next check will arrive on Tuesday, July 1.
SSI is intended to assist low-income elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and eligible children. While payments are usually issued on the first of each month, exceptions are made when that date lands on a weekend or federal holiday.
June 2025 Social Security Payment Dates
The Social Security Administration (SSA) delivers monthly benefits to more than 69 million Americans, including retirees, disabled individuals, and survivors. The specific date you receive your benefit depends on your birthdate. Here are the June 2025 payment dates:
- June 11 – For beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th
- June 18 – For those born between the 11th and 20th
- June 25 – For individuals born between the 21st and 31st
- June 3 – For those who started receiving benefits before May 1997
Most people receive their benefits through direct deposit, which ensures faster and more reliable payments. In fact, over 99% of SSA payments are made electronically.
2025 Remaining SSI Payment Dates
For SSI recipients, here are the remaining scheduled payment dates for the rest of the year:
- July 1, 2025 – For July
- August 1, 2025 – For August
- August 30, 2025 – For September (sent early due to Labor Day)
- October 1, 2025 – For October
- October 31, 2025 – For November (early, since Nov. 1 is a Saturday)
- December 1, 2025 – For December
- December 31, 2025 – For January 2026 (early due to New Year’s Day)
What If Your Payment Hasn’t Arrived?
If you haven’t received your payment as expected, the SSA advises waiting three business days before reaching out. After that, you can call the agency at 1-800-772-1213 or log in to your mySocialSecurity account online to track your payment status.
Who Qualifies for SSI?
SSI is available to people aged 65 or older, those who are blind, or individuals with qualifying disabilities. Eligibility also depends on strict financial criteria. In general, an adult must earn under $2,019 per month in wages to qualify. Applications for SSI can be submitted online, by phone, or by visiting a Social Security office in person.
