Lil Wayne Returns With ‘tha Carter Vi’ Album: Stream It Now

It’s officially Tha Carter VI time. Lil Wayne has returned, dropping the highly awaited sixth chapter of his iconic Tha Carter series on Friday (June 6).

After a seven-year wait since Tha Carter V, Weezy is back with the next installment. This time, he brought along a lineup of impressive collaborators including BigXthaPlug, Big Sean, Bono, MGK, Kodak Black, Jelly Roll, and 2 Chainz.

On the production front, the New Orleans rap icon teamed up with Wheezy and Ye (formerly Kanye West) to handle the beats.

Tha Carter VI marks Lil Wayne’s first solo album since Funeral, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this decade. Notably, the last three albums in the Carter series have all reached the top of the charts.

Fans got a sneak peek of what might be the first single with “The Days” featuring Bono. This track was featured in an ESPN NBA Finals promo ahead of game one between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday (June 5).

In the lead-up to the album drop, Weezy connected with Justin Bieber over FaceTime. Bieber shared a screenshot on Instagram Story, writing, “Checking in with [Goat]. It’s a painful walk but we got each other.”

Friday night was a special occasion for Wayne, as he headlined Madison Square Garden in NYC for the first time as a solo artist. He also gave the live debut performance of Tha Carter VI for lucky fans in the Big Apple.

This show kicked off the Tha Carter VI Tour, which will pause briefly before continuing later this month. The tour includes 34 dates across North America with stops in Atlantic City, Toronto, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit, Phoenix, Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, and more — culminating in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Oct. 2.

Dedicated fans can also grab exclusive C6 merch bundles on Lil Wayne’s official website, featuring collaborations with Barriers and BAPE.
